One of the key specialist companies involved in offshore wind development is DNV. It is a consultancy that also provides independent accredited certification services for the RES industry. In the article from the series "Who's who in Polish offshore industry" we ask Marek Roszak, Market Area Manager for Poland and the Baltic countries in DNV, about the company's role in the sector development and its commitment to the wind energy market in Poland.
DNV's experts use their industry
leading consultancy expertise to help offshore wind project
developers increase installation efficiency. As the company itself
points out, success depends on understanding the interdependencies
between different elements of the offshore wind value chain - which
is why DNV takes a full lifecycle approach to risk management and
cost reduction.
Marek Roszak in his comment for MarinePoland.com explains that as a leading global company employing independent energy experts and technical advisors DNV actively supports the offshore wind sector by providing advisory, monitoring, verification and certification services.
- As such, DNV has been involved in major offshore wind projects as either certification body or advisor to developers, investors and operators, e.g Baltic Power Offshore Wind, Arkona and Wikinger, to name just a few - comments Roszak.
How does DNV view the offshore wind market in Poland? Roszak points out that offshore wind energy in Poland is an emerging market with opportunities and challenges, and its development will be crucial to accelerate the energy transition in Poland.
- Environmental, technological and legal knowledge is required to build a new market, and some regulations for the Polish offshore wind sector are still under development. DNV has been servicing the Polish offshore market for many years, primarily in North Sea Oil & Gas projects, so this is a huge opportunity for us to support the developing offshore wind market by applying our competencies, experience and knowledge and, importantly, lessons learned from other markets as well as local expertise. - says our interviewee.
Is DNV planning to increase its
activity in Poland? Roszak emphasizes that the company is already
involved in a number of projects, e.g. as a certification body in the
Baltic Power Offshore Wind project (a project jointly implemented by
PKN Orlen and Northland Power), one of the first offshore wind farms
in Poland, but also as a technical advisor to investors and
financiers in due diligences and process monitoring.
- We have a dedicated team of local experts who are already supporting the development of the Polish Offshore wind market in every step of the way, in whatever capacity needed - emphasizes Roszak.
