Vestas has the ambition to become a leader in the offshore wind turbine market and support the development of the European offshore wind sector. The company announced plans to build a new factory in Szczecin, which will produce blades for their flagship V236-15.0 MW model.
The launch of operations of the new plant is scheduled for 2026.
More than 1,000 new jobs are to be created. Additionally, with
previous plans to build a gondola and hub assembly and integration
plant in Szczecin, Vestas expects the total number of employees to
increase to over 1,700 people by 2026.
The new blade factory
is to be located in the north of Szczecin, on land purchased by
Vestas in February last year. Nearby, on the island of Ostrów
Brdowski, there are plans to build a gondola assembly plant, which is
scheduled to open in 2025 and is expected to create 700 jobs.
Both factories are intended to support not only the European
market, but to some extent also the global market. By expanding its
existing operations in Poland, Vestas intends to increase the number
of employees in the country to a total of over 2,500 people.
Vestas' production strategy focuses on markets with stable
economic conditions and a constant order volume. Other locations that
meet these criteria are also considered for new investments.
