Since the beginning of 2023, two deliveries of liquefied natural gas have already arrived in Świnoujście.
The first load was received at the
end of last week, i.e. on January 6.
Yesterday, January 11, a delivery
was handled from the USA to Poland by the gas carrier Asklipios. 104
million cubic meters of LNG arrived (volume after
regasification).
This means that the LNG Terminal President
Lech Kaczyński in Świnoujście, since the beginning of its
operation, has already received a total of 208 deliveries of natural
gas.
LNG received at the terminal in
Świnoujście has been one of the pillars of the strategy of
diversifying gas imports to Poland from the very beginning. The share
of deliveries by sea in the total supply of this raw material is
systematically growing. In 2016, LNG accounted for only about 8
percent. supplies of gas from abroad for PGNiG, and in 2021 supplies
of this product increased to over 24 percent.
– Poland's fuel and energy
security is a priority for us, and uninterrupted supplies of natural
gas are an important element of its implementation. Therefore, in
response to the demanding energy situation in Europe, we intensified
the import of liquefied natural gas. Thanks to the planned extension
of the terminal in Świnoujście, from 2024 we will be able to import
as much as 8.3 billion cubic meters by sea. of this raw material
annually - emphasizes Daniel Obajtek, President of the Management
Board of PKN ORLEN.
