The Secretary of State in the
Ministry of Infrastructure, Arkadiusz Marchewka, has announced that
another undertaking related to the establishment of the offshore wind
installation port in Świnoujście has been completed.
A week
before the originally planned date, it was possible to obtain a
permit for the use of the quays for the Świnoujście offshore wind
installation port. As the deputy minister informed, there are two
quays, each of which is 250 meters long. The investments were
implemented by the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports
Authority.
The quays were designed to handle the largest
vessels intended for the offshore wind industry. These will include
specialist jack-up vessels, designed for the installation of turbines
with a capacity of 14 MW and larger, and heavy lift vessels used to
transport wind turbine foundations, each of which will be over 100
meters high and weighing approx. 1,000 tons.
The investment, owned by Orlen
Neptun, is to be launched in early 2025. According to the plans, it
will be the first terminal of this type in Poland and one of the most
modern in Europe. The project consists of several stages, implemented
from 2023. In connection with this investment, the land part of the
installation terminal is also being built on an area of almost 20 ha.
It will be used to reload and store key elements of offshore wind
turbines, such as towers, blades and nacelles.
According to
information provided in March by the Szczecin and Świnoujście
Seaports Authority, the investment received funding amounting to 85%
of the total costs of the project entitled "Construction of the
transshipment capacity of the sea port in Świnoujście to serve the
needs of offshore wind energy", from the Connecting Europe
Facility for 2021-2027 (CEF 2). The total cost of the project is EUR
77.5 million, with the amount of subsidy being EUR 65.9 million.
