The Port of Gdańsk leases an area for transshipment of military equipment to BLG AutoTerminal Gdańsk

A lease agreement for land property at the Port of Gdańsk was signed. Thanks to this, BLG AutoTerminal Gdańsk will tranship military equipment there, which is necessary for Poland's allies to guarantee security throughout Europe.


Cooperation of the armed forces with transshipment entities plays an important role for the country's defense and for NATO's actions in the event of a threat, among others. territory of Poland. In a conflict situation, efficient delivery of military contingents is only possible by sea. Military equipment will be transhipped and stored in the internal port. The contract was signed for a period of 36 months.


– This is another example of the strategic role played by the Port of Gdańsk in international relations, which has all the infrastructure necessary to comprehensively handle strategic transports. In the current geopolitical situation, the security of Poland and its allies, the smooth supply of military equipment to Europe and, for example, to Ukraine, come to the fore. As the largest container port in the Baltic Sea and an obvious partner for our neighbors, we have a historic role to play in the development of economic and security cooperation of the entire region of Centraland Eastern Europe. For now, we are waiting for corporate approvals and from the first quarter of 2024 we will start servicing military contingents – noted Łukasz Malinowski, president of the Port of Gdańsk.


– Since the annexation of Crimea and Donbas by the Russian Federation, the presence of allied troops in Poland has increased, and since the beginning of the war, the demand for troop transshipment services in the port has been much greater. We are very proud that, as BLG AutoTerminal Gdańsk, together with the Port of Gdańsk Authority, we are creating the possibility of handling these goods at our own, dedicated terminal – said Paweł Byglewski, president of BLG AutoTerminal Gdańsk.


AutoTerminal Gdańsk belongs to the BLG Logistics group. It deals with transport and forwarding activities as well as the provision of large-scale customs and terminal services.
