From
the beginning of the year until October, a total of 8 million tons of
imported coal were handled at the Port of Gdańsk, Anna Drozd, a
spokeswoman for the port, told Polish Press Agency (PAP).
As
Drozd said, between two and ten ships with coal are received daily at
the Gdańsk port.
"From the beginning of the year until
October, we handled a total of 8 million tons of imported coal. We
estimate that our handling capacity by the end of the year is an
additional 2.7 million tons. We are also launching additional wharves
in order to handle these increased transshipments. These are wharves
in the Inner Port," Anna Drozd said.
She added that about
20 train sets and about 350 coal trucks leave the port daily. "We
operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in shifts, also these
transshipments are carried out on an ongoing basis," Drozd
stressed.
