From the beginning of the year, the port operator PG Eksploatacja S.A. handled a total of 4.2 million tons of goods. September turned out to be a record month, ended at the level of 800,000 tone. The main cargo groups are coal, coke, ore, grain, general cargo, and other bulk.
Due to the Russian aggression on
Ukraine, the operator is carrying out increased reloading of coal,
which is imported from destinations such as Colombia, Australia and
Indonesia. Since the beginning of the year, the company has
transhipped over 2 million tons of it, which makes it the second
largest operator at the Port of Gdańsk handling this raw material.
The company carries out reloading at 5 quays: Dworzec Drzewny,
Rudowe, Szczecińskie, Węglowe and Wiślane.
- In response to domestic needs
related to the import of coal to our country, in cooperation with PGA
S.A. we systematically improve our infrastructure, increasing both
the storage of goods and the reloading capacity. We invest in mobile
handling equipment and increase the area of storage yards. We plan to
close this year with the result of 6.5 million tonnes of transhipped
goods. It would be a historic record - says Paweł Nowak, president
of PG Eksploatacja S.A.
In February this year, the first of
the three Liebherr LHM-550 port cranes started operation at Dworzec
Drzewny. In August, another LHM-550 crane was purchased. Currently,
the company is at the final stage of negotiations for the third
device. Investments in reloading equipment significantly increase the
company's reloading capacity. Since the beginning of the year, the
company has handled 411 ships, 62 of which were carrying coal. By the
end of the year, more than 50 ships with this raw material are
announced.
Until now, in the area where PG
Eksploatacja S.A. operates. the hardening of areas with a total area
of 100,000 sq m was completed m2 and major repairs of tracks with a
total length of 1,367.00 m As part of cooperation with PGA S.A. work
is currently underway to harden further areas with a total area of
approx. 42 thousand m2.
