The Orlen Group is
strengthening its position on the marine fuel market. An important
element of this process are the investments implemented, such as the
construction of the terminal on the Martwa Wisła, the level of
advancement of which has already exceeded 70 percent. With the
completion of the project, Orlen will introduce the possibility of
loading bunker tankers to serve the Tri-City ports. Thanks to a
special barge, the vessels will be able to be supplied with
conventional fuels and biofuels.
The
terminal on the Martwa Wisła will strengthen the logistics
capabilities of the Gdańsk refinery, enabling the transshipment of
approx. 2 million tons of fuel products per year. The first four
loading arms have arrived at the construction site. In the parked
position, each unit is 18 m high, and their total weight is almost
100 tons. The remaining four will be delivered by the end of June.
Ultimately, the devices with a capacity of up to 500 cubic meters per
hour will be used at transshipment stations for servicing tankers.
The construction is scheduled to be completed in the second half of
next year. The investment will both increase the supply capacity of
biocomponents and improve transport logistics between the refinery
and tankers. Along with the launch of the terminal, the company plans
to introduce a bunker truck to service the Tri-City ports in the
scope of conventional fuels and biofuels.
The changes
introduced in EU regulations resulting from the FIT for 55 package
indicate that further investments will be necessary related to the
availability of "green" alternatives to conventional bunker
fuels. Orlen was the first on the Polish market to introduce supplies
of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for ship propulsion. For over 20
years, the ORLEN Group has been supplying marine fuels to all Polish
seaports. The portfolio of refinery products includes a wide range of
fuels guaranteeing the highest quality and full compliance with
regulations. Orlen's offer already includes, among others:
conventional fuels MGO (DMA 0.1% S) and ULSFO (RMD80 0.1% S) and LNG,
and in the near future also "green" alternative fuels.
