The Port of Gdynia has concluded 2024 with excellent results, confirming its pivotal role in Poland's maritime economy. Last year, the port recorded impressive financial outcomes, reflecting its dynamic growth.

In 2024, the Port of Gdynia achieved significant results in handling key cargo categories, including container handling, which registered one of its best annual performances. "We came close to the 2021 record of 986 thousand TEU. Last year, we managed to reach 975 thousand TEU," says Piotr Gorzeński, CEO of the Port of Gdynia S.A. "Surpassing the one-million-TEU mark is within reach and represents a realistic goal for the future," adds CEO Gorzeński.

The Port of Gdynia remains a leader among Polish ports, ensuring efficient handling of various cargo groups and supporting the development of the national maritime economy. This is reflected in the handling data across other categories. "The dynamic growth is also visible in the ro-ro technology sector, where handling volumes increased by more than 20% compared to the previous year."

The port recorded 1.142 million tons of coal and coke, 991 thousand tons of bulk cargo, 119 thousand tons of wood, and 16 million tons of general cargo.

The grain segment reached 5.5 million tons, which, despite a decline due to normalization after the above-average results caused by the geopolitical situation, still ensures Gdynia's dominant position in the market,* explains the company's CEO. In the case of coal, similar trends were observed, linked to global economic changes, including the decarbonization process. As for liquid fuels, the Port maintained a good result, with these cargoes exceeding 3 million tons in the annual summary.

2024 also saw impressive financial results. "Net profit amounted to over 140 million PLN, representing an increase of over 32 percent compared to 2023. This result demonstrates the effectiveness of our actions and the port's stable financial position," informs Katarzyna Gruszecka-Spychała, Vice-President of the Port of Gdynia S.A.
