The first six months of 2018 have yielded great trans-shipment results for the Port of Gdynia.
Owing to a buoyant increase in shipments from January to June of 2018, the Port of Gdynia has already trans-shipped 11.5 million tonnes – and that is 11.3 percent more than in the analogous period of 2017. The intensification of trans-shipments at the Port of Gdynia are best illustrated by a comparison between the results from June 2017 with the results from June 2018 – cargo weight increased by as much as 30 percent. Considering the weight of cargo trans-shipped at the Port of Gdynia in the first half of 2018, particular attention should be paid to the almost 50 percent growth rate – in comparison to the first six months of 2017 – in the trans-shipment of coal and coke. Moreover – in comparison to the first six months of 2017 – the trans-shipment of wood increased tenfold. The increase in trans-shipment of general cargo – by almost 15 percent – is also with mentioning, as well as other mass cargo – by almost 28 percent.
2018 at the Port of Gdynia heralds as another year of record trans-shipments, emphasised Adam Meller, the President of Port of Gdynia Authority S.A.. This fact confirms the relevance and advisability of redevelopment of turning basin No. 2 at the Port of Gdynia and the development of the External Port in the near future.
