A Polish company of the Danish engineering and design consultancy group Ramboll, together with the Polish design office Projmors, will prepare the construction design for both phases of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm, i.e. Baltica 2 and Baltica 3, which is being jointly developed by Ørsted and the PGE Group. The contractor will also be responsible for preparing the documentation and obtaining the construction permit for the offshore part of the Baltica OWF project.
„We are pleased to have
outsourced the work on one of the most important parts of the Baltica
2+3 project to an experienced consortium. Offshore wind energy is a
competitive market where companies gain experience and build
competence by, among other things, working together in a consortium
formed between a global and domestic player. We have observed these
good practices in other markets, and now we see it in Poland as
well," says Søren Westergaard Jensen, director of the Baltica
Offshore Wind Farm project on behalf of Ørsted. „Strengthening the
competence of the Polish industry in the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm
project is also a practical realization of the commitment we made as
a foreign investor when we signed the Sector Agreement for the
development of offshore wind energy in Poland,” adds the project
director from Ørsted.
„The key proceedings that precede the
final investment decision for the construction of the Baltica
Offshore Wind Farm with a capacity of about 2.5 GW - the largest in
the Baltic Sea - are behind us. We are starting to work with a
contractor who has extensive experience in offshore wind energy and
the permitting process. We are pleased that the consortium includes a
design office from Gdansk, which proves that Polish companies are
actively taking advantage of opportunities to join the development of
offshore wind energy in Poland," says Wojciech Dąbrowski, CEO
of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
The contractor - a consortium of
Ramboll Polska and Projmors Designing Office for Maritime Structures
- was selected through a competitive dialogue tender. Its task is to
prepare design documentation for foundations, turbines, internal
cables and offshore substations, as well as to obtain a building
permit, and then to prepare the technical design of the Baltica
Offshore Wind Farm. The deadline for the task is the third quarter of
2023.
According to the schedule, the
commissioning of the first stage of the project, i.e. Baltica 3 with
a capacity of up to 1045.5 MW, is scheduled for 2026. The next stage,
Baltica 2 with a capacity of up to 1,498 MW is scheduled to be
commissioned in 2027. Both phases of the Baltica offshore wind farm
have location decisions (PSzW), environmental decisions for the
offshore part, transmission grid connection agreements with the
operator, and have been granted the right to a contract for
difference (CfD). In 2022, the project partners expect to receive
further administrative decisions for the onshore transmission part,
and will begin work on obtaining a construction permit. These are the
last permits required before a final investment decision is made.
