For more than 20 years, Port Service is present in Pomerania and supports - at many levels - the development of the local community. Once again, the company has joined in the development of education and helped students and teachers of Primary School No. 72 in Gdansk with equipment for the educational purposes. This time, in cooperation with teachers a unique place was created where children can develop their manual talents and create handicrafts in a modern workshop. Thanks to the agreement between Port Service and the Association of Friends of Primary School No. 72, equipment for the school workshop was donated, including workbenches, locksmith vices, drills and other tools.
In total, the school received equipment worth over PLN 35
thousand, which will help students develop their skills and
interests. Modern machines open up completely new opportunities for
the school to take an innovative approach to classes, break the
school routine, and distract from constant sitting in front of the
computer.
- Developing manual skills through, among other
things, discovering passion and talent for DIY is nowadays a
particularly important element of education - emphasizes Anna
Lewandowska, Port Service Spokesperson. - We care about shaping young
Gdansk residents so that in the future they can fully use their
potential, for example by choosing the path of vocational education,
which is still underestimated, and yet it is an extremely valuable
direction for building the future of young Poles and one of the
foundations of the economy - she adds.
During the ceremonial
opening of the workshop special attractions were prepared for the
guests. Teachers took part in a nail hammering competition and
checked how the machines worked on their own. The furnace used for
art and ceramics works was also very popular. Maria Kubinowska, a
technology teacher at Primary School 72 and her students decided to
use hardened paste and glitter to create works in the shape of hearts
and lucky four-leaf clovers. In addition, the girls and their teacher
talked about their joint plans for baking and the use of kitchen
equipment. In turn, the director of the School and Kindergarten
Complex No. 3, Artur Jastrząb, pointed out that students have
repeatedly expressed a desire to try themselves in the craft, but
until now they have not had such an opportunity.
The
inauguration of the workshop was also accompanied by the opening of
the school's painting studio. Here, too, visitors could test
themselves in creating paintings with the help of paints. Port
Service Company received a special gift from the teacher taking care
of the facility. Paweł Król, representing the Board of the company,
received a watercolor on which the artist immortalized the company's
headquarters. Katarzyna Jędrys-Siuda, painter and therapist at the
same time, told us how she activates the children to develop
artistically and encouraged them to go for walks together and paint
in the open air.
Education of young people in Gdansk is a
subject which is close to Port Service since the beginning of the
company's presence in Gdansk. Supporting Tricity schools in their
efforts to ensure the highest quality of education for young people
is the main objective of Port Service.
