The Port of Gdynia informed about a temporary suspension of ship traffic for the duration of works related to strengthening the bottom over the existing pipelines under the seabed in Awanport.
The port said that "it is
necessary to temporarily suspend ship traffic from May 24, 2023, from
10:00 to 17:00." This is related to the commencement of work on
strengthening the bottom over the existing fuel pipelines running
under the seabed in Awanport. It will be made over a length of 315
meters, "perpendicular to the axis of the Port Canal, including
the entire width of the entrance to the port channel between the
heads of the breakwaters". The work is expected to take 15
working days and is scheduled to end on June 10. The port will keep
you updated on any changes.
Reinforcement of the bottom above
the fuel pipelines in the Port of Gdynia is part of the task
"Dredging the approach fairway and internal waters of the Port
of Gdynia, stages I and III, and reconstruction of the quays in the
Port of Gdynia - Stages II and III".
The closure of the main entrance to
the port will not apply on Sundays. In addition, ships will be able
to enter the port through the southern gate. The Port also states
that in special situations, ship traffic through the main entrance
may be resumed, provided that the Port Dispatcher is notified at
least three hours in advance at the address:
