254 meters long, 43 meters wide, and most importantly, a record 88,000 tons of soybean meal in the holds - the bulk carrier CSSC Le Havre broke the cargo record at HES Gdynia Bulk Terminal in the Port of Gdynia.
CSSC Le Havre called at the Swedish Wharf of HES Gdynia Bulk Terminal in the Port of Gdynia on March 8. The ship delivered from Santos, Brazil, a record cargo of 88,000 tons of soybean meal for the terminal. The bulk carrier set sail from Brazil on February 4. After unloading, it left Gdynia on March 16.
The vessel flies the flag of Hong Kong. CSSC Le Havre is a relatively new ship, in service since 2021. Its carrying capacity reaches 120,000 tons.
The previous record cargo of soybean meal arrived at HES last year aboard the bulk carrier Maran Astronomer. It was 57 thousand tons. The new result is therefore clearly an improvement. Interestingly, however, the Maran Astronomer is a much larger vessel than the new record holder - the ship measures 292 meters in length.
In Gdynia, a project to deepen the port basins is underway. The main fairways have already reached a depth of 16 meters, thus ships with the current greater draft will be able to call at port terminals, including HES Gdynia Bulk Terminal. At the same time, the terminal is preparing for increased transshipment by building a new warehouse with a capacity of 64,000 tons.
