Port Gdańsk has completed the construction of new parking spaces for trucks. The parking lots at Załogowa Street and Budowniczych Portu Północnego - Poinca will be available for drivers starting from June 5th. This adds a total of 380 additional parking spaces. And the construction of more parking spaces is still underway.
Due to increased grain exports, Port Gdańsk is prepared for higher traffic of heavy goods vehicles. It is estimated that around 70% of grain transportation to the port will be done by trucks. The operators can accommodate up to 730 trucks per day. In order to prevent congestion on access roads to the port, the Port of Gdańsk Authority (ZMPG) is building new parking spaces.
At Budowniczych Portu Północnego - Poinca Street, an area of approximately 1 hectare has been transformed into around 80 parking spaces. Additionally, at Załogowa Street (formerly the Kruszwica factory area), a parking lot for 300 trucks has been built on a 4-hectare plot. Another 80 parking spaces at the former Kruszwica site will be made available to drivers in mid-June. Furthermore, Port Gdańsk is preparing a new parking lot at the intersection of Kontenerowa Street and Nowa Portowa Street, covering an area of approximately 2.5 hectares and with a capacity of about 190 trucks. The expected completion date is mid-July. At that time, the port will have a total of 970 parking spaces.
Grain destined for export is examined using grain samplers located at three parking lots within the boundaries of Port Gdańsk. The grain quality tests are conducted at the parking lots on Budowniczych Portu Północnego Street, Ku Ujściu Street, and at the parking lot on Śnieżna/Handlowa Street. ZMPG will soon install canopies over the grain samplers to allow for grain testing even during rainfall.
