The Polish state-owned ship-owner has ordered four new box shape 38 thou. dwt bulk carriers which will be built in China.

The new ships are scheduled for delivery in 2016. In October 2013, Polsteam finished its USD 1 bln fleet renewal programme; altogether 38 vessels (1.5 mln dwt) have been constructed.

In the meanwhile, Polsteam plans also to order two LNG-powered ferried for its subsidiary, Unity Line, running regular ro-pax services from the Port of Świnoujście to Trelleborg and Ystad in Sweden. The new ro-paxes will have a capacity for approx. 200 trucks and for 350 passengers. The company has sent out letters of inquiry to shipyards regarding the new ferries.
