PGE and Ørsted have started a tender for the preparation of a construction design together with obtaining a construction permit for two stages of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm, i.e. Baltica 3 with a capacity of approx. 1045 MW, and Baltica 2 with a capacity of approx. 1500 MW.

The subject of the contract includes, among others, preparation of draft building permits in accordance with the Construction Law, consisting of a land development design, architectural and construction design, technical design, as well as the required opinions, contracts, expert opinions and permits, except for those that will be prepared and delivered by the contracting authority, i.e. partners joint venture.

The order includes elements such as offshore power stations, offshore wind farms (each consisting of a nacelle with a generator, rotor, tower, connecting section and foundation), and internal power and telecommunication lines. The scope of the contract is divided into two parts: the first - for Baltica 2, and the second - for Baltica 3.

The Balitca OWF project is implemented under the 50/50 partnership by PGE Baltica from the PGE Group and Ørsted in the Polish zone of the Baltic Sea. The tender for the execution of a construction design along with obtaining a building permit is another order carried out as part of the procurement process of the investment being implemented. So far, PGE and Ørsted have launched the largest tenders for the main components of the Baltica OWF, including offshore wind turbines. Applications for participation in the procedure may be submitted until January 31, 2022.

- We are conducting intensive work on the construction of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm, aimed at starting the production of electricity as early as 2026. Last year, we prepared a joint supply chain plan, ensuring the maximization of the participation of Polish companies in the investment, we obtained the right to a contract for difference based on the decision of the Energy Regulatory Office, we launched geotechnical research and we have started tenders for a supplier of wind turbine generators, which are the most capital-intensive part of the investment. The next important stage of the project is ahead of us, which is the selection of a contractor for the construction project, responsible for obtaining permits for the construction of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm - says Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

- We are glad that the jointly conducted investment is going according to the assumed plan. We have a busy year ahead of us, in which we expect to obtain an environmental decision for the part related to the connection infrastructure. We will also start work on obtaining construction permits. These will be the last permits required by Polish law, leading to the final investment decision by the partners of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm - says Søren Westergaard Jensen, Ørsted OWF Baltica Development Director, also acting as the Managing Director of Ørsted Offshore in Poland.

According to the schedule, the launch of the first stage of the Baltica Sea Wind Farm project, i.e. Baltica 3, with a capacity of approx. 1045 MW, is planned for 2026. The next stage, i.e. Baltica 2 (with a capacity of approx. 1500 MW) is to be commissioned by 2027. These investments will contribute to accelerating the Polish energy transformation.
