The construction of a new ferry for PŻB (Polferries) is going according to plan. The launching of the hull is planned for spring this year.
Works on the construction of the
ferry in the Italian shipyard for Polska Żegluga Bałtycka S.A., the
operator of the Polferries brand, are progressing according to
schedule. Currently, preparations are underway for the assembly of
the chimney part of the unit, ramps and mooring devices. Painting
work on the ferry's hull has started. Inside the ship, finishing
works are carried out on the passenger and crew decks, including the
installation of ventilation systems and bathrooms, and the
installation of the unit's cabling. The last works related to its
equipment are underway in the engine room.
The launching of the hull will take
place in early spring this year, and the planned commissioning is to
take place in the second half of 2024.
The vessel will operate on the
Świnoujście - Ystad route. The loading line of the new ro-pax ship
will be nearly 3 km, which will allow it to transport about 150
trucks and about 200 passenger cars at a time. On board there will be
room for almost 1,000 passengers in 216 cabins.
It is not yet known what the name
of the new ferry will be. The ship is being built at the Visentini
shipyard in Italy.
