In mid-March, the keel for another offshore vessel commissioned by Olympic was laid at the Crist Shipyard in Gdynia.
Crist is currently building two Construction Service Operation Vessels, which Olympic ordered in 2022. The order was received by the Ulstein group, which in turn commissioned Crist to make them.
The keel for the first of these units (construction number 318) was laid in Crista on January 31, and the second one (number 219) on March 14.
The ships built for Olympic are based on the Ulstein SX222 project. They will be equipped with hybrid battery drive and ready to switch to methanol fuel. In addition, the project provides space for additional batteries, which can be used when the infrastructure for their service in ports is available. The sister units will be 89.6 m long and 19.2 m wide, and will be able to sail 126 people in 91 cabins. The ships will work in servicing offshore wind farms.
Crist-built structures use patented Twin X-Stern hull designs for improved maneuverability. The Polish office of Ulstein Poland also worked on the design of the units.
The Crist shipyard is responsible for the construction of the hulls. The first of them is scheduled to be towed to Norway in the fourth quarter of this year.
