A letter of intent has been signed at the Port of Szczecin-Świnoujście for the establishment of the second agro-terminal in Poland. The signing took place on Thursday with the participation of representatives of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Sea Ports Authority and the Agro-Food Investment Company (established by the National Center for Agricultural Support). The event was also attended by Minister Marek Gróbarczyk.
The Agroterminal will be built on land belonging to OT Port Świnoujście. A 300-meter-long conveyor belt will be built in the warehouse located there, which meets the conditions for this, and will connect it to the quay and strengthen the potential for transshipment. In addition, the site will be able to store nearly 100,000 tons of cargo in the form of grain and food products.
Marek Gróbarczyk stressed that the creation of an agroport at OT Port Świnoujście is an important and at the same time key step towards the development of Polish agriculture and the export of domestic goods to the world.
"The drive to create an agroport did not come about yesterday or the day before yesterday, but was the result of many agreements, meetings and analyses. As a result of these meetings, the concept of a port specializing in handling grain and other agro products was born", said the deputy infrastructure minister.
