Date of publication: 07.06.2023

The Norwegian, Czech, and Danish quays will soon become an important part of the Port of Szczecin. The construction works for the first stage of the Czech quay redevelopment are nearing completion, while the Danish quay is already finished. The investment is being carried out by NDI Group.

The Danish Quay is a brand new quay being built in the so-called Dębicki Canal. It will be adapted to a depth of 12.5 meters, matching the depth of the waterway to Szczecin after modernization. This area of the port is where general cargo is handled. Dredging works are currently underway in the Dębicki Canal, with the need to excavate 1.5 million cubic meters of material. The excavated material is being deposited on Ostrow Mieleński. So far, 600,000 cubic meters have been excavated. The adaptation of the Dębicki Canal to a depth of 12.5 meters costs 343 million Polish zloty.

The first stage of the investment on the Czech Quay is nearing completion, with three more stages yet to be executed. This investment is one of the flagship projects carried out by ZMPSiŚ in the Port of Szczecin. Its aim is to improve access to the port in the Dębicki Canal area. The modernization of the quays will ensure that they meet the parameters required for servicing the largest ships.

The project is co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund under the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment. The total cost is approximately 343.1 million Polish zloty gross. The task is being undertaken by the Management of Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports, with NDI Group as the general contractor.
