On Friday, May 12, the flag was raised in Świnoujście on one of Fairplay Towage Poland's two new tugboats. The Fairplay-90's home port is Szczecin, and the vessel will be used mainly to service the port of Świnoujście.
The tug, along with its sister vessel, was built at the Dutch Damen shipyard in Vietnam. Following the acceptance of both vessels, which took place in early April in Rotterdam, they were named Fairplay-90 and Fairplay-91 this past Saturday, May 6, during the Port of Hamburg festivities.
The welcoming of the tug Fairplay-90 and its inclusion in the fleet of Fairplay Towage Poland took place at the Wladyslaw IV wharf at 12:00 p.m. Fairplay-91 was temporarily chartered for work in Western European ports.
The tug Fairplay-90 is a DAMEN shipyard design of type RSD2513, meeting the current highest environmental requirements (IMO Tier III). It has a power output of 5050kW and a pile pull of over 80 tons. Thanks to its compact dimensions and innovative twin fin sub-hull - the Damen Twin Fin Skeg®, it has excellent maneuverability. It will be the first tug of this type permanently stationed in Polish ports.
